Matt was raised in Northern Idaho and was taught to tie flies and fish by his father. He was raised on the waters of the Lochsa and Selway rivers and backpacked into the tributaries of Kelly Creek fishing for giant cutthroat. 

 

Matt spent his college years working for the forest service and living on the Selway river where he continued to develop as a fisherman. Matt has a long history on the Owyhee, where his grandparents had a cabin; his earliest memory is of his grandfather honking the car horn in the tunnel on the Owyhee River Road. 

 

Matt is a school administrator and loves coaching people interested in the special techniques used to target the trophy Owyhee Brown Trout.
