Jim was born in raised in the Wood River valley of Idaho. Growing up with a fly rod in hand, he followed his father around the streams and lakes of Idaho in search of trout.
He later guided on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River every summer for over twenty years. His days days afloat rowing rafts and drift boats casting for cutthroat trout have given him a unique perspective on the beauty of flyfishing.
Jim has guided on rivers in Alaska and Oregon as well as Idaho. He has organized and lead a "Trout Camp" for kids through Trout Unlimited. He especially enjoys the time teaching and exploring rivers with folks who share the curiosity about the environment, it's streams, insects and trout as he does.
His passions are fly fishing, upland bird hunting, primitive bow building and painting. Jim currently teaches art in Boise, Idaho at Riverstone International School. He spends as much time outdoors with family and friends as he can.
